UTiFLEX® microwave cable assemblies are constructed using a low or ultra-low-density PTFE dielectric coupled with fully shielded outer conductors and a unique connector attachment that withstands mechanical and thermal stresses far better than standard connectors. The result: Excellent loss characteristics, outstanding phase stability, and superb flexibility compared to standard flexible cables — all without sacrificing mechanical integrity.
Available variants:
General purpose microwave cables designed to offer superior electrical performance in the smallest possible package for fixed installations. These cables provide an affordable alternative for systems that cannot tolerate the lower performance of RG cable assemblies or the cumbersome design consideration required for semi-rigid cable assemblies.
The most versatile microwave cable family offered by Amphenol CIT. These cables have outstanding mechanical durability without sacrificing insertion loss, phase stability or VSWR (return loss). Low-Loss cables are readily available, moderately priced and suitable for a wide range of applications ranging from test leads to military systems.
Provide extremely low insertion loss and optimized electrical stability to meet the most demanding system requirements. Mechanically sized to common frequency bands (18 GHz, 26.5 GHz, 32 GHz, and 40 GHz), these assemblies utilize an ultra-low-density PTFE dielectric that ensures unbeatable phase and insertion loss stability over both temperature and bending extremes. For phased arrays or any application requiring electrical repeatability, choose Ultra-low-loss UTiFLEX.
MKR represents the best in Amphenol CIT technology. Using ultra-low loss UTiFLEX microwave cable as a base, MKR adds ultra-low-loss highly flexible and abrasive resistant ruggedness. The resulting integrated product becomes an ideal choice for test labs or any testing environment requiring excellent mechanical strength and long-term reliability. The MKR test cables have passed strenuous lifetime qualification testing to ensure long-term reliability.
Most UTiFLEX assembly types listed above (except the MKR) are available with additional armoring options. External armor increases the cable assembly diameter, but can also significantly extend the life of the cable assembly, especially in highly aggressive environments.
Optimized for spaceflight applications, these cables provide the lightest weight, lowest insertion loss, and best radiation resistance in a flexible cable construction. They features an ARACON® outer shield, an ultra-low-density PTFE dielectric, and a DuPont Tefzel® jacket. If required, cable assemblies are manufactured in a Class 10,000 clean room by certified solder technicians.
Thermal vacuum testing is a risk mitigation strategy utilized in some hi-rel applications, notably space equipment such as satellites. Amphenol CIT TVAC Test Assemblies are thermal vacuum compatible for use in TVAC chambers. These assemblies utilize high-performance, Ultra-Low-Loss UTiFLEX Cable and are produced to exacting space-grade standards utilizing low-outgassing materials and vented connectors.
Employing all the cable and connector performance and proven reliability of our UTiFLEX line - only in a smaller and higher-performing package - UGF055D features double-shielded cable construction with a rugged FEP outer jacket. Popular connector options include 1.85 mm, 2.92 mm, SMP, and SMPM.
